Student members comprise a large portion of overall membership, and start the pipeline of great leaders within DAABA, other bar organizations, and the community at large. Students are highly encouraged to become active in DAABA, and take advantage of the opportunity to meet local practicing attorneys while still in school.
scholarships
Each year, DAABA awards two (2) scholarships totaling at or around $6,000 to two (2) law school students. In addition, DAABA routinely provides scholarships for members to attend the annual APIS Conference and NAPABA Conference.
DAABA LAW STUDENT LIAISON POSITION
The Dallas Asian American Bar Association is seeking a law student from each of the three area law schools— SMU Dedman School of Law, Texas A&M University School of Law, and UNT Dallas College of Law—to serve on its Board of Directors in an ex officio position. The position runs from February to December. The primary duties of the liaison are to 1) attend monthly DAABA Board of Directors meetings; 2) encourage membership of law students in DAABA; 3) attend DAABA events and encourage active participation from law students in DAABA; 4) be an active member of the DAABA Mentorship Committee (attend meetings, provide ideas and assist with projects directed towards the law school); and 5) keep both the law school, particularly OCS, and DAABA informed of various needs so the relationship remains strong.
Interested applicants shall send a 1) a one-page written statement of interest explaining why the applicant would like to serve in the position and 2) a current resume to info@daaba.org.
