Jason Shyung

We’re proud to spotlight former DAABA President, Jason Shyung, who will be speaking at this year’s AAPI Month Luncheon on May 15.

Jason served as DAABA President in 2019 and has remained a dedicated leader and advocate within the AAPI legal community. He is currently Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary at Southwest Airlines, where he has practiced since 2018. He leads a team of lawyers and paralegals who support a variety of business teams and practice areas, including Corporate Governance, SEC/Financial Reporting, Finance/Treasury, Airport Affairs/Real Estate, Facilities, Supply Chain (Enterprise, Fuel, and Tech Ops), Fleet Transactions, Corporate Citizenship/ESG reporting, Sustainability, Patents, Innovation, Investor Relations, and Corporate Strategy.

Jason’s leadership and contributions to the legal profession have earned him numerous recognitions, including being named Outstanding Senior Counsel by the Association of Corporate Counsel and The Texas Lawbook, as well as Outstanding In-House Counsel by D CEO. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Jason is deeply committed to mentorship and community service, dedicating time to supporting law students, attorneys, and disadvantaged youth both locally and at the national level through NAPABA.

Our commitment to promote the meaningful participation of Asian American Pacific Islanders in the legal field is largely advanced through our mentorship initiatives catered to both law students and practicing attorneys.

Through DAABA, our members are provided numerous opportunities to connect with other attorneys and judges at happy hours, cultural events, and service opportunities.

Community service

As we aim to advance our legal professionals, we simultaneously work towards serving our community through fundraising initiatives, charity drives, and other service opportunities.
