We are honored to to have Ms. Lily Yan Hughes, Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary, to serve as our special guest speaker at DAABA’s Awards Night: 30th Anniversary Gala

Lily is a member of the Executive Team of Public Storage (NYSE:PSA) — a real estate investment trust with market cap of $38+ billion, and a component of the S&P 500 and FT Global 500. Lily provides leadership and oversight for all legal and internal audit matters, including board, corporate securities, governance, capital markets, litigation management, labor and employment, real estate, compliance, operations, intellectual property, M&A, business continuity, government affairs, investor relations and external communications. The 30+ legal and internal audit teams report to her.

Lily is a trusted advisor to the two public company Boards, Public Storage and PS Business Parks. Prior to joining Public Storage in January 2015, Lily served in roles of increasing responsibilities for almost 18 years in the legal department of Ingram Micro, a Fortune 100 and the world’s largest wholesale information technology & mobile devices distributor with $46 billion in annual sales and over 30,000 employees. Lily’s last role was Vice President and Associate General Counsel-Corporate, M&A & Finance, the #2 corporate lawyer of the company, with primary legal responsibilities for corporate securities, governance, finance, treasury, tax, executive compensation, and global leader on all M&A transactions.

Lily was also a corporate & securities partner with the national law firm of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips focused on serving the financial services industry, including national and state community banks. Lily is also an active volunteer and leader with the Southern California Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), as Secretary and Vice-Chair of the global ACC Corporate & Securities Committee, as a long-standing member of the Board of Directors, and recently as President from October 1, 2015 to September 30, 2016.

Lily has also been recognized by numerous publications and organizations, including named in 2017 as Public Company General Counsel of the Year by the Los Angeles Business Journal, in 2016 as one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers in the nation by the National Diversity Counsel, recipient of a 2016 Most Influential Women Award and a 2014 Multicultural Leadership Award from the California Diversity Council, the 2013 Orange County Rising Star General Counsel Award from the Orange County Business Journal, and named twice as one of the top 100 “Next Generation General Counsel” by Inside Counsel Magazine.

Lily is an immigrant from Kowloon City, Hong Kong, moving the U.S. when she was 11. Her husband farms in Upstate New York — growing soy, wheat, corn and hay, operating a grain mill, and tending to 150+ heads of cattle. Lily’s community leadership includes past service as a member of the Tournament of Roses Committee in Pasadena, California, as Secretary and as Chairman of the Board for the Greater Los Angeles Affiliate Chapter of the American Heart Association, and as a member of the Audit Committee of the national American Heart Association based in Dallas, Texas.
