Dallas Asian American Bar Association
The Dallas Asian American Bar Association (DAABA) is a 300+ member legal organization created for the benefit of local area Asian-American attorneys, law students, and other legal professionals. DAABA’s core purpose is to promote the professional growth and good community standing of its members. DAABA’s membership is diverse in terms of practice areas and experience, and its fastest growing demographic is comprised of law students and newly licensed attorneys. As of 2015, approximately 67% of the self-identified Asian American attorneys practicing in Dallas County were DAABA members.
Throughout the year, DAABA provides ample opportunity for personal and professional networking for its members, by hosting and participating in numerous social and legal events. In addition, DAABA has a formal mentoring program for law students and provides $15,000 worth of scholarship opportunities each year to its members. DAABA also works with other associations and groups on a variety of volunteering activities.
DAABA is one of four minority organizations affiliated with the Dallas Bar Association (DBA), along with the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association, the J.L. Turner Bar Association and the Dallas Women Lawyers Association. The association also works closely with the Asian Pacific Interest Section (APIS) of the State Bar of Texas, and is the local chapter of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA).
