JD from accredited law school with excellent academics. Minimum of 11 years relevant experience as practicing attorney. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Precise drafting, accurate legal research and pragmatic analysis. Professional demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills. Strong project management, budgeting and organizational skills. Teamwork skills with ability to work well across various functions and levels. Creative, responsive and motivated to provide excellent legal service. Ability to negotiate with federal and state government regulators on food and general merchandise compliance issues. Experience in a corporate legal department, government agency or law firm. Significant specialized legal experience in one or more of the following: food safety law, product liability law, regulatory law, litigation, food and product labeling laws, FTC, FDA, USDA and state consumer protection regulations, industry standards. Additional preferred requirements: understanding of manufacturing, private labeling duties of an importer, quality and safety principles. Also, experience with drafting policies and procedures, is preferred.

Provide legal advice, counsel and training to the Food Safety/Quality Assurance/Food Defense Department, Food Product Development and food merchant on food product labeling; food store signage; product safety, recalls, withdrawals and pulls and holds, food borne illnesses and outbreaks, policies and procedures, food operations and FDA, USDA and FTC regulations and state and local Health Codes. Respond to FDA and USDA requests for adverse event reporting; and state and local Health Department administrative proceedings. Supervise outside counsel; advise company management on relevant legal issues; and keep abreast of industry legal trends and new laws and regulations in order to give pro-active legal advice. Provide legal advice, counsel and training to the General Merchandise ('GM") Compliance Department, GM product development, and GM merchants on GM product labeling, product safety, recalls, withdrawals, pulls and holds, policies and procedures, and CPSC, FDA, FTC, state and local regulations. Supervise outside counsel; advise company management on relevant legal issues; keep abreast of legal product safety and product content trends, new laws and regulations in order to give pro-active legal advice; and integrate the legal aspects of GM product safety; quality and sustainability. Supervise two assistant general counsels and one legal secretary.

Licensed attorney for a minimum of 8 consecutive years, including law firm or corporate legal department experience. Excellent client service and people skills. Experience representing corporate aviation departments, including familiarity with Federal Aviation Administration regulations (Parts 91 and 145) and other applicable regulatory schemes and rules governing corporate flight operations and drafting and negotiating contracts for the purchase, sale or leasing of aircraft. Ability to work with minimal supervision in a collaborative fashion with other in-house attorneys and internal business clients. Additional preferred requirement: Experience in negotiating contracts with hotels and airlines.

This position will report directly to the Vice President and Division General Counsel, Corporate Division and serves as the principal advisor to Wal-Mart's Aviation and Global Travel Departments. Duties will include: drafting and negotiating agreements for the purchase, sale or leasing of aircraft; advice and counseling related to compliance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations and other applicable regulatory rules governing corporate flight operations; support of the Global Travel Department in its business transactions, including its contracts with airlines, hotels and rental car companies; and preparation of, and monitoring compliance with, internal aviation and travel practices, policies and procedures.

Industry specific experience not required, however, significant interest in candidates with experience reviewing and drafting agreements with pharmaceutical manufacturers, health plans, PBMs, and other health and retail vendors; knowledge of HIPAA, Medicaid, Medicare and healthcare compliance issues, including fraud and abuse; an understanding of retail pharmacy operations, including business development, regulatory and reimbursement issues; managed care; and exposure to regulatory actions involving the DEA, FDA, HHS OIG, law enforcement agencies and state boards regulating pharmacy.
