JD from accredited law school with excellent academics. Minimum of 11 years relevant experience as practicing attorney. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Provide legal advice, counsel and training to the Food Safety/Quality Assurance/Food Defense Department, Food Product Development and food merchant on food product labeling; food store signage; product safety, recalls, withdrawals and pulls and holds, food borne illnesses and outbreaks, policies and procedures, food operations and FDA, USDA and FTC regulations and state and local Health Codes. Respond to FDA and USDA requests for adverse event reporting; and state and local Health Department administrative proceedings. Supervise outside counsel; advise company management on relevant legal issues; and keep abreast of industry legal trends and new laws and regulations in order to give pro-active legal advice. Provide legal advice, counsel and training to the General Merchandise ('GM") Compliance Department, GM product development, and GM merchants on GM product labeling, product safety, recalls, withdrawals, pulls and holds, policies and procedures, and CPSC, FDA, FTC, state and local regulations. Supervise outside counsel; advise company management on relevant legal issues; keep abreast of legal product safety and product content trends, new laws and regulations in order to give pro-active legal advice; and integrate the legal aspects of GM product safety; quality and sustainability. Supervise two assistant general counsels and one legal secretary.
