The MADD National office is currently seeking candidates for the position of Associate General Counsel Great opportunity to work with a small but growing legal team in furtherance of an important mission: to end drunk driving, support victims of this violent crime and to curb underage drinking. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: In conjunction with the Chief Legal Officer, manages and directs MADD’s legal matters, including articles of incorporation, bylaws, trademarks and other legal filings. ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS: 1. Conduct legal research, reviews and drafts contracts, reviews leases, reviews sensitive correspondence and makes appropriate recommendations and changes. 2. Assist with employment matters, including handling of complaints, minimization of risk and serving as liaison with outside counsel where appropriate 3. Assist with trademark and copyright matters, including drafting of correspondence and license agreements, tracking infringement matters, and serving as liaison with outside counsel where appropriate. 4. Review requests and make recommendations for submission of amicus briefs in cases pending before State and U.S. Supreme Courts. 5. Other legal duties as assigned. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 1. 3 years legal experience. Knowledge of non-profit regulatory and tax issues desirable. 2. J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school. 3. Membership in the State Bar of Texas (or eligible for reciprocity admission) required. 4. High level of confidentiality and ethical behavior required. 5. Strong communicator with excellent negotiating skills. Ability to handle and manage multiple projects and meet timelines and deadlines. 6. Ability to work autonomously desired. 7. Computer literacy on basic office products required.
